| Tektronix DPO5054 - Installing new hard drive |

I have a few updates on this. I made a copy of the Windows/System32 folder from the original installation, and I was able to update the driver on each of the exclamation point devices on the vanilla windows 7 installation. I browsed to the copied system32 folder and it was able to find all of them. "Ethernet Controller" became: Intel 82583 Gigabit Ethernet Controller "Other PCI Bridge Device" became: Tektronix Acquisition Interface "TEKUTI" became: Tektronix USB-THC Instrument I also was able to extract the computer properties from the original installation. This included some registry items and the image: C:\Windows\System32\oemlogo.bmp Unfortunately, even after all of these changes and rebooting, all of the installers still did not work. They all still thought that it was not a Tektronix scope. --- Quote from: coromonadalix on June 17, 2024, 03:52:40 pm ---i have some iso's of the 5k series i could search in them ... not at home ill update this thread if i find them later --- End quote --- I would greatly appreciate that, thank you. |

USBTMC is a subclass of the USB specification. This driver is typically included with the Virtual Instrument Software Architecture (VISA). (See block diagram below.) For Tektronix oscilloscopes, this driver is included with TekVISA. --- End quote --- |

If you are able to reinstall the Tek software over the top of a working clone, then this will tell you that the missing piece is in the software. OTOH, if the installer still complains, then the missing piece must be in the hardware. If something is missing from the hardware, then one place to look would be CMOS RAM (admittedly, that would be stupid). |

Sorry I forgot to reply to you on that. The installers do work on a cloned HD. So I agree it seems like there is some other file or software on the hard drive that it is looking for. Or maybe something in the windows registry? |
| fzabkar:
Executing the following line in a CMD window will dump the entire file list to a text file: --- Code: ---dir c:\ /s /b > filelist.txt --- End code --- You can modify the line to limit the listing to hidden or system files, etc. You can also export the entire registry to a text file (using regedit.exe). |
