Hi,
Here is a quick repair project for you. I found this Tektronix P6021 AC current probe at a Hamfest today.
Wide bandwidth current probes are very expensive, even used ones.
It was labelled 'SCRAP' and had tag on it indicating that it only worked on one of the two settings:
Fortunately the same vendor had a working Tektronix 465 scope on his table and I was able to confirm that the information on the tag was correct.
This is good news. This means that the problem is almost certainly in the termination and the not the probe itself.
I bought the probe for $30.00 CDN ($22.50 USD). When I got home I downloaded the manual and the schematic. When I opened the termination box I found the first problem. The connection to the center conductor on the output BNC was broken:
I then checked the parts on the schematic:
I found that the 61.9 Ohm resistor was open. I removed the resistor and checked it again with a DMM:
I replaced the resistor and repaired the broken connection. I now have a fully working probe.
