TEKTRONIX TDS 1002: HELP!
« on: November 07, 2022, 04:22:10 pm »
Hi there! Since this morning; my trusty TEKTRONIX TDS 1002 oscilloscope is down with the following error at startup: CH1 and CH2 acquisition down; without any apparent reason, because it worked perfectly the day before!! Has anyone ever faced this failure? Is it fixable??? Thanks for your help! |O |O

Is it fixable???
Maybe. Start with collecting all service documentation you can find for it. You won't find any schematics, but if you're lucky you might find a service manual with a block diagram and some other details.

If you can do it safely, I would start by measuring the power rails, both DCV voltage and ripple. Ideally, if you have access to another scope, check them with a scope. I would also try reseating any internal connectors, especially if there's a cable between the digital board and the acquisition board (and if these are separate boards). Take pictures, and check for any burnt component on the PCB.
