Tektronix TDS 3032B calibration error
« on: September 05, 2021, 11:17:43 pm »
Hello everyone .
Has anyone solved such a problem?
Maybe someone has a schematic diagram of the motherboard?

It's possible that somebody burned out the input terminator in that channel, what happens if you dismiss the error and try setting it again to 50R?

I did it and the calibration error message also appears.  :(

Does the 50R terminator click on? Have you tried measuring the input impedance to see if it is burned out? It's somewhat common for that to happen, the terminator cannot handle much power. I've heard of people repairing them by soldering a surface mount resistor over the burned out one on the attenuator substrate. It probably won't perform quite as well as it did originally but it beats having an unusable scope.

I don't have that scope, so I'm going to try to divine what it means. I don't think the termination resistor is necessarily damaged (it might be). But I think the system is noting the the voltage was exceeded when it was the selected termination, and it might have put the scope out of calibration because it overheated. It simply noted the excess voltage and the software is supposed to tell you it's now out of cal.

But I might also be wrong ...
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Yes, I measured the resistance on both inputs:
50R after switching the probe to 50 R and 1M after switching it has 1M.

I did the calibration several times again and only the message as in the picture appears.

What do you see in the error log? It's possible the calibration has just gotten corrupted somehow, it might just need to be calibrated. Calibrating Tek DSOs requires some specialized expensive equipment and expertise.

There is a utility created by a forum user that allows, if not the complete calibration, to perform at least one performance check of the whole scope.
Even if the requirements for this check are less binding than those of the official program, you must still have at least one SG5030 or R&S SME03 for signal generator and Fluke 510x for DC calibrator.
A NI gpib adapter is also required.

There is also a Log viewer always on the same site.

Unfortunately I only have SME03, and a DC source and I do not have a GPIB port in the oscilloscope.
I can only communicate via LAN.

Update....

I also noticed that when I switch DC to AC coupling, I can not hear the relay click (if is  50 R and same on 1M) for  Ch 1
There are clicks on Ch 2.
I do not know if there should be a click of the relay when changing to GND, because I can not hear for both channels.
This is my first DSO and it is different in my old analog oscilloscope.
Does anyone have a schematic of these input hybrid modules?
I attach the relay coil connection diagram to ADG361D
