As with any repair get the Tek service manual and check the PSU voltages are to spec.
You could register with Tek for it or it should be available in one of the links in the Repair Docs thread
There is a trick to get them apart, the handle must be removed to expose all the cover screws.
Re-seat the LCD cables too.

Keep us posted.  ;)

Do any of the leds behind the buttons light at power up? If not it could be a simple power problem.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

None of the leds power up.

All supply voltages were good.

There looked to be a SPI link active to the display, but with no data lines moving.

I think it's the main board that has gone.  No output from the 1KHz probe calibrator either.  Which according to the tek service manual means replace the main board.

I never liked the LCD scopes that much, but it is really well designed, and comes apart very nicely.

Check the PCB for any corrosion, investigate any spec of dirt on IC pins.
I've got a 2000 series that had a corroded pin on a 100 pin IC that prevents it from booting with the same symptoms as yours.
I'd be interested if yours has the same complaint and if this is a problem with these Teks.
