Exchange broken potentiometer of a dimmable halogen lamp
« on: April 07, 2024, 07:00:20 pm »
Dear all,

I have a special lamp (medical equipment) from 1994 with a broken potentiometer. I need to find a sparepart for that, but since I'm not very familiar with the circuitry I hoped someone could help me.
The halogen lamp uses an electronic transformer with 22.8V AC output, but I could not find any schematic. Therefore, I don't know exactly what the potentiometer does and how I can find a spare part.

I have made a few pictures. Based on those pictures, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Look carefully if the resistance value is noted somewhere on the potentiometer or try to measure the maximum resistance.
Then you need to find a model with enclosed switch suitable for 230V.
If you don’t succeed, the only chance would be to have a separate switch and potentiometer.
