Tektronix TDS3032 not registering button presses
« on: October 29, 2015, 11:08:17 am »
Hi all

I had a job lot of tek scopes with various problems, mostly PSU issues, and I've whittled my way down to the last one. Now that the PSU is working in this one (TDS3032) I am presented with a new fault. It powers up just fine, even detects inputs and displays trace fine blah blah blah. Problem is the buttons are all totally locked up, cannot change anything. Not a single button or dial is doing anything (apart from on/off obviously).
Works totally fine over the bus; programs up fine, changes ranges, measurement functions are fine, etc. but no manual use.

Any ideas where I should even start with this?

If you have another tds3k 2 channel scope in the job lot you could try swapping the front panel PCB.

Can your share more info?

Is the Front panel getting power?
Reseated all connectors ?
Do you have any of the others to swap out boards to test for functionality?

Edit

Front panel seems to have power. Display comes up just fine, channel LEDs illuminate, running the self diagnostics and self cal over the bus does not flag up any issues. All connectors reseated.

I do have others, the only issue is because I have already repaired those ones they have been recommissioned into use so I'd have to raise all the paperwork again to start stripping bits out. Perfectly doable though, I just wanted to know if anyone had any similar experiences. Removing the front panel requires a full disassembly, so I was hoping someone had a quicker fix  :-//
