Tektronix TDS500-700 serie debug & console interface card (w Gerber file )

Hello people

 debug-interface.zip (14.37 kB - downloaded 350 times.)
Some people tell,  link  and topic with  info about  20 pole "gold finger" of CPU board  is broken /dead.

I have developed one board and use him for  repair of Tektronix DSO.
I put  my design for free usage in community.  Look attachments with zip-files.

Design has a little fail.  (connector 180° turned ,  pleas put it to board, as compoment side of interface show to bottom. )


Compoment list is self explained. ;-)
1k= 1k ohm 0805
C (no marking) = 100nf 0805
18p = 18pf  0805 capacitor of XTAL.   foregone of 18pf capacitor for XTAL is possible, but i don't recommed.
232 = MAX232 SOIC 16
68681 =   MC68681 UART controller PLCC44, obsolent ->

Important: Pleas  delete old  gerber file (with file  date 13.02.2020 ) and  use gerber file with newer file date  30.05.2020.
Gerber file in topic is already replaced.

I have forgotten to write about RS232 cable:  1:1 cable, no "null-modem"-cable.

I like this idea and design but would it be possible to change the controller + connector so the output would be USB compatible (Wndows, MacOS, Linux) ?

In my humble opinion, if using J40 connector of TDS500-700 serie then let's modernize and go USB... otherwise there will be problem or specific cases like this console port re-using the option 13 controller, see https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/console-port-debug-adapter-for-tek-tds500-tds600-and-tds700-series-scopes/msg3420060/#msg3420060

Nowadays most computers do not have RS232 so you need another adapter to transform signals, at the end it cost too much money and trouble.

I have removed my answers, because, it isn't written good. 

I  say, i stay on  RS232 and RS232 & USB Adapter.  It is not expensiv.  And i didn't feel like for developing for new version with  UART-USB onboard. I  didn't like, if i am annoying in five years later, because new driver (from update) disable old UART IC. (See Profilic with old UART IC and FTDI and  fake.-IC -> asshole !)

I've purchased one kit to @Madao (Matt) in Germany and I've to say, it works very good with my MacBook Air (see attached pictures where it was tested on my TDS784D).

I have a question. I saw IC MAX232 and three LEDs indicators on the circuit board, which is obviously different from the components used in the circuit diagram. I just want to use the serial port to transmit data and need to have LED indication function, that's all.

Very well.  Can Sprint export to IGES or DXF or Eagle?
Do you have a KiCad version?  Can that be exported to Eagle?
