Tenma 72-1095 Isolation Transformer Face-Lift
« on: May 24, 2020, 04:02:48 am »
On my long-list of small things to do was to replace the cruddy feet on this Tenma isolation transformer. I bought the replacement feet 11 months ago!

The original rubber feet turned into something I can't even describe. I even had to dig out the Phillips head screw to get them off, and even that, they were bonded to the chassis by years of its weight and probably heat. The isolation transformer would rock on my work bench.

What made this small project go even slower (2+ hours) was that the new feet are larger than the old ones and I needed to drill new holes. Some of the holes were very close to important components too.

All I can say is....      It's done :)

She sits nice and flat and I see no deflection in the new feet. They have a hard foam core that looks to stand up to the weight of this machine (~30 pounds). The feet are a little pricey but they look to be up to the task!

The interior looked nice and clean too. I just dusted things off and put the top back on:

I have the same model,  the original feet were trashed on it as well.  I simply used some sticky feet.  The previous owner had also stacked multiple of these units on top of each other,  and because they are so heavy it began to crush the chassis of the ones underneath so I had to beat the metal back into shape.   Just be aware that it has a pass through earth connection:  the earth on the outlet in front is bonded to the one on the mains power cord through the chassis.
