Tenma 72-2690 Damaged After Connecting it to a Car
« on: November 02, 2024, 07:20:10 pm »
Hi. I accidentally damaged my Tenma 30V / 5A 72-2690 power supply. I did something stupid…

I wanted to charge my car battery and hooked it up. While it was charging (after about 10 mins) the battery I tried to start the car. I knew I shouldn’t do that but thought the power supply would just go into current limit but it damaged the power supply.

The CC light is on but no current output. The voltage is set to 13.8V but it doesn’t go up to that voltage. When I restart the supply, the voltage on the output slowly goes up to about 6V but collapses when there is any load.

I plan to take it apart. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look first?
