Testing DVI after surge
« on: September 10, 2019, 02:10:00 pm »
There was some sort of transient electrical issues which appears to have damaged an LCD monitor and attached Fujitsu mini PC. DVI is dead on both, but the PC works fine otherwise (can login via remote desktop). I've ordered spare power and video boards for the Lenovo LCD and will change both to be safe.

The question is, how can I test the DVI port on the PC (to determine if it is really dead or just the screen) without possibly destroying the new monitor parts? Is there a way or is there even much risk in just plugging it in seeing what happens?

Thanks!

1) Hook the monitor up to a known working PC to see if the monitor still works,

2) Hook a known good monitor up to the PC to see if the PC still works?
