RTX 3060 12GB OCR ScreenArtefacts
« on: January 30, 2025, 08:41:31 am »
Hello, I have a problem with my GPU and when I moved house, I packed up the computer and when I went to turn it on I found artifacts on my screen.

2491875-0

I assumed it was the GPU so I tried changing it for another one and indeed that is the fault.

The question is if you know what this failure could be due to, I understand that it was due to a hit during transport or something like that, but I would like to rescue this graph if possible since it works very well for the use I give it.

It is an RTX 3060 12GB OCR. Do you have any idea where the error could be?

It is definitely a BGA's solder ball crack. It is probably repairable by reflowing, but it would require extensive equipment to be done.

I thought it was the memoir, could it be made with a heat gun?

It might be the GPU chip, or one or more memory chips, due to the severance I'd guess it's the GPU itself. Likely the PC got bumped, the heatsink bumped the chip.
Only a pro could fix that (desolder, reball, solder); heatgunning or oven might fix it for a very short time, but I doubt it.
The 3060 is likely cheaper to buy new (used) than the labour cost to fix it.

Not easy rework work to do. You can use MATS utility to try and figure what memory bank is bad. You have to then know the memory bank layout of the board. You will have to try replacing those chips. If not those you would need to rework the GPU itself. Check out Northwest repair on YouTube. I'm not sure what he charges.
