Thunderbird M-100 Electric fence controller
« on: May 01, 2015, 08:47:46 am »
I have a blown up one in which both of the large brown caps have blown and there is no identification written on them that I can see.

I would like to replace them but being high voltage cannot guess what their values would be . Anybody know?
Anyone have a circuit diagram or suggestion of what the circuit might look like?

2uF 630VDC, but they must be rated for pulse application. You probably will be best to get a 4uF 400VAC motor run capacitor with push on terminals, and use 2 short thick ( 1.5mm) wires to connect them to the board. That way when it next fails ( after a year or two) you just plug in a new 4uF capacitor.

Hope you aren't using this for any serious application (non temporary fencing)..
The one my parents use on their property will land you on your ass haha it's been running non-stop for over 7 years (wasn't cheap).

Top Tip: Don't use them too close to wells or boars haha makes using the shower an "exciting" experience, found that out the hard way hahahaha
