TL866A self check failed
« on: August 21, 2018, 01:37:33 pm »
I have a Minipro TL866A,, after I did the software and firmware update, it stopped working . It's not able to read or write any devices.
When I try the "Self Test" in the tools menu, the test GND TEST 07 fails.
I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem and if there is any way to repair this type of failure.
I thank everyone in advance.
Greetings,
Edoardo

was that its first update? smells like clone/fake
if you google around you will find a page describing hacking CS into A, this site also described how to force flash hacked firmware

Thanks for your reply, this is a tl866a and it was not the first time I did a firmware update. I have also tried again with the "firmware updater" utility but it seems there is a short circuit on a switch for the gnd of one of the pins.
I do not know if test 7 is concerns pin 7 and in which part of the circuit it refers-
Greetings,
Edoardo

Ciao Edoardo,

please read here

You could find useful information to repair/upgrade the unit.

Yes thank you, I read this post before opening another thread, the discussion is much more about the firmware than the hardware failures, I also tried to contact the manufacturer's technical support, but they do not answer.
There is a way to know when a test fails which in which area of the board is the fault?
Greetings,
Edoardo

you have 2 kind of firmware now since you have an second tl866 version, did you take the good one ???

For my tl866, i had an strange firmware update issue, past the version 6.0 it would badly update in my windows 64 bit, rendering it unusable, windows 64bit would not find it,  but in my windows 32 bit laptop, it would do fine and work fine after the upgrade.  From now on, if the SW ask for an update i update it on my 32bit pc,  i know members here are okay with 64 bit systems

The drivers where acting strange ....

Thanks for the replay, I have attached the current firmware version. I upgraded the firmware using the miniprog 6.82 software , I do not know if another version exists and where I can find it. Now I can not read any type of EPROM and self-check fails the test 07 gnd.

Edoardo

this should be moved to the tl866 thread

The official maker of tl866   now there is tl866II version and the old tl866a and tl866cs

http://autoelectric.cn/EN/TL866_main.html

or ask in the tl866 thread :

Yes, I know there is a version two, but I used the correct firmware version, as you can see in the picture. I'm sure there's a hardware problem.
I would like to understand if anyone has ever repaired the programmer starting from the test result. The fimware is not my problem.
Thank you,
Edoardo

You may check the zif socket if there is a bad contact, it's damaged or bent contacts ?? had one who got an badly inserted chip outside the two closing sides of the contact pins ... and the two blades had deformed.

how about downgrading to previous firmware?
hardware fault just after updating firmware sounds very unlikely

If it is a corrupted FW, why not force in bootmode and then use Radioman SW to update it?

That's why I posted you the link above.

Thank you all,
The firmware does not seem to be the problem but it is a failure.
Each pin can be VPP, VCC or GND. Self-checking checks for each pin if there is a short circuit. In my case, the GND 07 test fails. Is there any documentation on this? Does test 07 concern pin 7? Is one of the NPN J3 transistors (S9013) short?
Now I will try to control the J3 transistor one by one.
Greetings,
Edoardo
