I repaired my 21" Trinitron (CRT) monitor the other day:

Just pictures right now, more notes to come. Short story: intermittent horizontal failure. Seemed like a cold solder joint or something like that. What was it actually? An 0805 chip resistor, no kidding.
Board design and construction is excellent, a well crafted instrument that everyone should get a chance to see!

I hope you resoldered all the pins on the LOPT and the line output transistor while you were in there, cracked joints on those along with the flyback tuning capacitors and the wiring and connectors to the scan coils are very common as well.

In those days, the high end Trinitron monitors had such a high quality, they were used for the commercial airport radar screens.
They were built in the Sony San Diego, California and just across the border in Mexico in Sony facilities.
I had the opportunity to visit the factory by the end of the 90's.
The quality was just amazing.
Some of these monitors even came with a RGB sensor that could be placed on the front screen to calibrate the color.
And this was in 1995!
Just amazing machines.
Thanks for sharing your teardown and repair.
It is really something special to look at these pictures.
