Title: Trying to identify connector type and crimp
Post by: Light Bulb on April 16, 2015, 11:00:58 pm
Hi all,

I'm trying to repair the fan on a 10Gb network card, and I need to re-crimp one of the fan wires. Unfortunately, I have no idea what type the connector is, nor can I find the right sized crimp. I found something that _might_ be appropriate from digikey, but at $39 postage to NZ for a 7c crimp, I wasn't convinced.

The pin pitch of the connector is 1mm, and the actual crimp itself appears to be about 1.1mm wide at the connecting end. The connector's overall width is 5mm.

Any information that anyone can provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks all

Sorry, don't know the connector.

May be obvious but wouldn't it be easier to just desolder the header and solder three wires directly on the 3 pads on the pcb?  They're reasonably spaced apart  and they're long enough to make it easy for you to solder 3 wires with no effort.

It would look ugly but it wouldn't cost a penny.

I'm having trouble finding one that looks identical to this, with the 1mm pitch.

Measure it carefully to make sure it is not a 1.25mm pitch. 1.25mm is more common.

1.0mm pitch

Thanks heaps for providing that.

Definitely 1mm pitch. Width of the 3 pin connector is 5mm exactly, so fits the diagram provided on Ebay.

It does not appear to be a JST part.

You could replace the whole thing, or as suggested just solder it.
