Trying to identify this part.
« on: November 01, 2019, 12:36:21 am »
The PCB appears to have power put on the comms pair and the 2 devices on the board are fried. The remaining good one on the right is OK. Seems to be some kind of protection device and looks like they did the job as the PCB is working when I jump the fried parts but would like to repair it properly and have the protection again.

The middle connections connect to the ground and the other 2 in line with the signal lines.

Anyone any idea what this part may actually be?

Could it be something like this (LC filter)?

https://au.mouser.com/datasheet/2/218/Syfer_SBSMDatasheet-1316388.pdf

I expect that the glass devices (diodes ?) function as overvoltage clamps.

The component is in series with the Vcc supply, so it can't be a simple filter capacitor.

Look closer, they have side contacts.

see: https://product.tdk.com/info/en/products/emc/emc/3tf/catalog.html

Yes, some sort of LC or Pi filter. We need to know what the interface is to get some idea of the speed.

P.S. The two glass MELF packages look like the overvoltage protection diodes, it would be sensible to check that they haven't gone short.
