Trying to replace a faulty thermal link/resistor
« on: October 01, 2018, 01:02:54 pm »
Hi,

I found this Thermal Link/Resistor A5MC-220JK to be open. I don't find the same replacement. Is there another way for me to replace it? I thought of a 22 ohms/ 2W resistor, but the actual protection wouldn't make sense then.

you had an response on "all about circuits forums"   why ask here ?  loll

same response  :  https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=285-1901-ND

Since it has an 18week of lead time,  put an 22 ohms 2w resitor in serial with an 139 degree thermal fuse, thermally glued or an shrink against the resistor.

Well.. I just wanted to hear a different approach from someone else  :-\

I needed a fast solution rather than waiting long only for that component. I just thought of putting the 22 ohms resistor without the thermal fuse. Of course, I know the consequences if it fails again  :D

A faulty bridge rectifier caused the thermal link goes away. I've replaced the bridge, I'm only stuck for that component, and I just have the 22ohms/2W resistor at the moment.

Hmm, for me it shows:
"Quantity Available   25,869 Can ship immediately "
In this case, the manufacturer lead time is of no consequence, unless you need 25870 of them!

edit: Apparently Arrow has free shipping worldwide on all orders no matter how small. But be prepared to receive a very large package for your one component.
