Title: Trying to source old Zoom ZFX-2 DSP chip from Yamaha mixer EFX board
Post by: kehall on October 13, 2023, 09:18:02 pm
Hi Wizards :)

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas where to source a Zoom ZFX-2 IC to replace a blown one in an old Yamaha 3000 mixer DSP board (LM7805 regulator lost its ground pin due to dry joints and I suspect output ran somewhere up to input voltage 15v)  :(

What else the ZFX-2 may be used in etc that I can get for parts perhaps... I've already tried a Zoom 505 guitar pedal for parts off ebay for a few quid (can resell) but sadly it has the ZFX-2L which is the 3.3v low power version not the 5V one in the circuit (it also interfaces with 5V SRAM and ADC so don't think I can down-voltage it successfully - I've already replaced the RAM and the microcontroller is communicating out to the DSP and data coming from the ADC too so these look ok). I am scoping zero transitions on the CAS/RAS/data/address lines to/from the RAM (all high) hence changed the RAM first leaving just the ZFX2.

It's just a punt really not worth throwing any serious money at, would be nice to get all the functionality back though!

Any help gratefully received!

Kind regards,

Keith.
