JPS NIR-10 DSP eproms
« on: July 16, 2020, 01:34:19 pm »
Hello everyone!
I have been given a defective JPS NIR-10 DSP meant for HAM radio use. As far as I can see, everything seems allright, except for the sockets for the firmware U9 and U10 are empty. Possibly cannibalized for a better looking/condition unit.
Obviously, there's absolutely no support anywhere for this thing.
I am looking for a dump of ver. 4.0 of these EPROMs, so that I can put it back into service! SN is 11868, and the paperwork that I have includes a sheet for a 4.0 firmware upgrade (possibly the reason there's no chips inside it). Actually I dont even know what type PROMs or EPROMs this thing uses, so if someone knows, could you also tell me? It's a 24 pin DIL package.
Willing to pay a reasonable amount for a programmed pair of chips, since even if someone does have the hex files, 99% I'll have to purchase a writer for this once single use anyway.
Photos of the unit

Thank you!!! Franco

ETA:
Forgot to add that Benny Hillman, from JPS Tech Support, did answer telling me that support for all ham products ended in 2002. And that he has absolutely nothing in regards to the NIR-10, except the manual, that he sent me via email...

Just to update: I connected to Doug K4DSP, the original designer of the NIR-10 and he was kind enough to give me his last set of ROMs so that I could make the DSP work. So, a big THANK YOU Doug, and to all that have helped me in this little endeavour.
