Fluke 87V Error
« on: March 03, 2021, 10:47:59 am »
greetings.
My name is diki, i come from Indonesia.
I have a 87V fluke multitester and now it has an error, every time I turn the knob to Voltage, resistance, diodes, etc. I see only a minus line and cannot measure anything.
I don't have any clue if I want to fix it myself, I just tried to clear the path on the knob.
please what other steps should I do?
for fluke videos can be seen here

Thanks for everything
Have a nice day

based on my experience
It looks like the 430 MCU program is missing

Thanks lot Daisizhou
Now am open the multimeter then i was check if have hot component when wash on alcohol is show on C15 is hot then i check with multimeter is short then i open the caps but stil short then i open U10 short is gone and i try to give 5V using AMS117 5V but still error then i check U6 should be is 3.3V but when I measure on multitester value is 3.9V are that ok or must replace again? One thing i dont have IC like U10 and U6 but i have AMS117 are that is oke or must be use like on schematic U10 = TPS77050 and U6 = TPS71533. On the bottom that is foto and schematic the trouble part

Now the fluke after i change U6 become dead am confused why in schematic is show if U6 is TPS71533 3.3V should be if i change with ams117 3.3V its fine but result is differnt the U2 Become hot then the update is dead multimeter. So sad but one thing i know please don't change U6 with ams117 3.3V because that Will blow U2 and don't change U10. Now i think am wait for money to buy another multimeter.

Please tell me what multimeter that can buy on my country Indonesia i want buy the eev meter but i dont have credits card so i can not pay that
Please give me recommended like Uni-T brand what that is same like Fluke 87V

Please choose fluke instead of Uni-T
You can observe the Uni-T motherboard (no matter which model),The manufacturing process is rough
As a precision measuring device,I think quality and safety are far better than price
Even the old model of Fluke, its manufacturing process is better than Uni-T,Although performance parameters cannot be compared

1) it might be rotary switch broken, or pads get dirty. Also resistor around might be bad, check if they are open
2) U1 asic might be bad
3) If you have 87 number when turning meter on then probably software is ok and not corrupted

Why did you changed U6? There was no evidence that voltage regulator was bad  :palm: Also, there is a lot of different revisions of PCA with different components. So using schematic from one board to repair another one is not a good idea
