U1253B OLED replacement problem. Screen inverted.
« on: December 31, 2018, 12:44:36 pm »
Hi all,
I just got to reviving my meter. Ordered couple of "31 pin, 2.4 inch" OLED displays. Bought two in case one was wrong/incompatible or in case I needed a second replacement down the road (surely will). First one just arrived. I just fitted it but the result is somewhat unexpected. May I ask if any of you know exactly what is happening? Is this just a different layout screen? Is there anything to be done? Any of you OLED aficionados out there? Perhaps someone knows a better part?

This arrived:
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.25972e8d9ogAS0&id=564209537380&_u=v201fasvrd7437

This is the second one (not shipped yet):
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.2a3a2e8dABi3Qi&id=571989658564&_u=v201fasvrd27a2

P.S. I emailed local reseller last year when I saw the fade creeping in. I don't know if it is still available but I was quoted 123.61 EUR + VAT + shipping for the original part (U1253-66007).

You bought display with a wrong controller IC, should be SSD1303.

It's already verified by several people that SSD1305 and SSD1309 will show mirrored image.

The Story of Little-endian & Big-endian 8888 kinds.
The controller looks pin-wise compatible, just that you don't have the source code to change the configuration to recompile to suit the current one.

Mirror X direction would have solved it.
No source.!

Had to buy it from someone :) I bought it from TheAmmoniacal few years ago.
The mirrored display is surprisingly readable  :bullshit:

I just wrote an email to the last place (I could find) that claims to have the display in stock (but does not ship internationally). They have 2. I wonder if I should get both in case someone else needs one. The price is not great €50.

Update:
I ordered the module from them (they are now out of stock). It is 2015 new “BL 12864G2 ERNHn“. They come on their own module. Desoldering was tricky (rohs?!).
All went well and my meter is back in business.

My U1273A multimeter screen became unreadable recently. I've ordered BL 12864G2 ERNHn from SOS electronic on December 20, 2019. Unfortunately display now have 24-pin connector.

You counted wrong connector, and apparently don't understand what this thread is about.
