Recently purchased a UT61E from amazon and was using it today. I love the meter and it was working great. I was measuring the output of a LM317 based power supply, and the meter unexpectedly turned off. I unplugged it from the circuit and switched it back on. The Volt, microamp and miliamp ranges all show ohms in the window. and on the volts range, it's spitting out random values of a few ohms. On the milivolt range, it's reading capacitance. Curiously, the rest of the ranges work fine.
Is this a common issue, or does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? I'd like to just get a new one, since the thing is basically less than one day old. Ironically, I bought this in order to have a nicer, safer meter than my deathtrap of a harbor freight meter.
I've tried removing the battery but to no avail, and have checked the fuses. Honestly, not sure what the issue is, and I'm pretty bummed out.
