Uni-t 61E

[Electric flower]

My DMM suffered from a short transient spike which was in 230 rms voltage, after it, it is shows ohms when range switch is in V, mV, uA, mA positions.
Is there any way to repair it?

Inside everything looks clean, no burned components or carbonated traces, everything looks fine.

It can't measure resistance when in volts, it just shows random numbers.

I can post pics but there is not much to see.

This indicates t me that the main chip damaged. I don't think you can repair it without a new chip. When I damaged mine while testing the imput protection of my meters, I took it to 2500V and my UT61E showed the same symptoms. Sorry, time to buy another meter and one with proper input protection.

The ES51922 datasheet indicates that FC1 through FC5 are used for mode selection. You can check to see if FC1 through FC5 match the mode selection as per datasheet.

Looking at the UT61E schematic, bear in mind I suck at reading them, it looks like D4 (near VB+ battery terminal) might have some influence on how the mode selection works? 

If yes, it could be shorted?   It would be easy to test.

Same here exept my meter is trying to measure frequency. I also suspected blown chipset and didn't really look much further.
