I dont know how to drive this motor (NIDEC motor)
« on: January 25, 2019, 04:14:36 am »
hello people,
I have a IG-A40E-W sharp plasmacluster hd ion generator air purification device.
the ion generators have failed in it, and now it won't do anything,
I have taken it apart with the intention of using it with the fan only and getting rid of the ion generator part of it.
I basically gutted everything, the only part I want to keep is the fan blower and air filter.
while looking at the motor, I couldn't find any information about it on google, and it requires 168 volts dc (rectified 120vac) plus an additional three wires (I don't know what the other three do),
I would like to build a circuit to run it without using the mainboard, (since the mainboard does nothing now that the ion generators are dead).
I am including a picture of the motor, it would be great if anyone has any info about this type of motor.

Hi;
168vdc is lethal voltage, you know right? Please careful there.

Normally the color code like this;

Red = Vm = 168VDC
Black = Gnd
White = VCC = 14VDC
Blue = Pulse Gen Output = Don't care
Yellow = Control Speed Input = 0 to 5vDC

Proof of Concept for Safety Reason;

Red = Vm = 24VDC
Black = Gnd
White = VCC = 12VDC
Blue = Pulse Gen Output = Don't care
Yellow = Control Speed Input = 0 to 5vDC

There appears to be a similar motor (CMOT-A009KKEZ) in this Sharp air purifier model (FU-40SE-J):
http://www.jordansmanuals.com/ServiceManuals/Sharp/AIR%20PURIFYER/FU-40SE-J/FU-40SE-J%20Service%20Manual.pdf

See page 19 of the service manual. Note that the FU-40SE-J is a 240VAC model.
