Unknown (to me) CFL inverter part
« on: July 05, 2019, 07:35:39 pm »
Hi all
Sorry if this sounds silly but would anyone be able to tell me what this part is (attached)?
It's from a cfl driver board, quite clearly toasted and caused the backlight to flicker.
I'd like to get it going again but I have no idea what this part is. I think it was marked as a capacitor on the pcb. I tried putting a random one in but no joy :)

Thanks in advance!

I assume it is a 0.01uF non polarized cap.
For sure it is a cap but I can't see clearly the marking for the value.

Can you pls post a picture about the circuit where your cap is?

I'd bet on a Kemet 100nF 100V MKT for the original part.
Then you'll want to be checking the small green fuse, transistors (quick no-shorts) and thermal fuse.
