Unknown Buck Converter [Solved]
« on: March 22, 2022, 12:34:14 am »
Trying to fix a WI-FI module in my security gate.  Component U1 should be a buck converter IC but when I search 1HSH I get a TVS1400 in a DVR-6 package.  Fairy certain it's a buck converter.
Any ideas of which one so I can confirm that it will not be back in stock till 2024 some time?

Any help appreciated.

Manufacturer logo is Nanjing Micro One. All their part numbers seem to be of the form MExxxx. Perhaps searching sellers of their parts can bring up a possible match as marking information seems to be difficult to find. I suspect the last two characters are a batch/date code.

Thanks @amyk.  I could not even find the manufacture logo on all the charts that I have.  I have also lost one of my smd search databases.  It used to be at this link http://chip.tomsk.ru/chip/chipdoc.nsf but the link is now dead.  It was quite good.  I'm not sure if it moved or just disappeared.

I'll keep looking with the added info.

Thanks - Jerry

Wow - That was fast!  I was just about to post that the ME3116 looks like the winner.  I found them at LCSC https://lcsc.com/product-detail/DC-DC-Converters_ME3116_C97643.html

I have never bought anything from LCSC but I think I may try.  The last voltage regulating IC's I bought from Aliexpress were all unusable fakes.

As usual, Thanks for the help.  You guys saved me $150 :-+

I didn't see any marking information in the datasheet. Did you go through all the parts that seemed to be suitable?

I searched using these criteria:

https://ipv4.google.com/search?q=filetype%3Apdf+%22Nanjing+Micro+One%22+%22sot23-6%22

Then I searched Google images for ME3116, after examining the pinouts:

https://www.google.com/search?q=me3116&tbs=isz:m,itp:photo&tbm=isch

I did not see any marking information in the datasheet.  I looked at the image in the link I posted above that showed 1Hxx as the marking.  The datasheet showed the typical application diagram that matched what I think is a match to layout to what exist on the circuit in repair.

In the table that shows the output divider example for 5V matched the divider on the repair board.  So did all the other component specs.

My guess is that 1H is the component id and the last two are for date/other things.

I have spent stupid time trying to figure out how you matched the manufacturer logo.  All I can say is thanks to you and @fzabtar for being masters of component id.  With out your help I would be sunk.  If I'm on thin ice please let me know.

Edit to add: I did go through all available buck converters.  The problem was the manufacturer site stalled at displaying datasheets.  Going to LCSC, they have no availability for the other probable buck converters and consequently do not display datasheets for them.

I was unable to recognise the logo. A reverse image search in Google didn't find it. I'd like to know how @amyk found it, too. :-)

That was just from memory, from the time when that infamous Russian SMD marking site was still alive. The "half yin-yang" logo is pretty distinctive.

You confirmed a couple of things.  The first is that the infamous Russian SMD marking site is gone and the second is that I learned about that site from you a while ago.

Thanks for having a good memory.
