| Unknown vape inhaling sensor (MEMS?) |
| (1/1) |
| Krotow:
Coworker asked for help with Argus G vape pen he have. As he said, inhaling detection doesn't work anymore and now vaporization works only by pressing the button. During disassembly I found that inhaling sensing seems happen through little channel from mouthpiece side which ends inside tiny component with metalic cover, very similar to barometric pressure sensor, through tiny hole in PCB. Hole cleaning with isopropyl alcohol didn't helped. Seems vaping liquid through channel got inside sensor and caused it to fail. Removed it from board (it broke beyond recognition on that). From what I seen inside and PCB pad configuration it surprisingly look like MEMS microphone in phones. It might work like that, most likely inhaling is detected by voltage change in mic output. I found the article about MEMS tech in new vape pens where component and its pads in picture also look like failed sensor that I removed from board. Do anybody know what and which this component really is? And where I can get it? Honestly turning vape pens into mini-smartphones seems utterly stupid idea (together with non-removable lithium batteries in these). |
