[FIXED] Venerable AIM TTI PL303QMD-P needs help - Overvoltage trip error
<< < (11/11)
Zucca:
ok I fully tested it. Not a single problem to report, I am a happy camper!
What a nice device, definitely my first choice as my daily work horse!

Upgraded to last FW went well, and no need for calibration it was bang on.

I report here below what AIM TTi support told me to do as sanity checks as first step:

--- Quote --- 1. Measure the 5 sub-main fuses as marked in the first image on the reverse of the board. Can be easily checked due to the power board on the right hand side of the unit.
 2. Measure across the two outside legs of Q11 and check for a reading of 100K.
 3. Measure across the two outside legs of Q12 reading should be high and not low.
 4. Power the unit and measure the voltage rails on the top right hand side of the board where the large cap is and ensure the +5,-5 and +7V5 rails are active.
--- End quote ---

What killed the ADC? My guess is an ESD zap from the outputs.
m k:
Are all fuses original?

Maybe it saw a glimpse of mains.
Zucca:
all fuses original, at least the ones on the boards. the glass mains ones don't know.

I am kind of amazed by that kind of openness and helpful attitude. Are they fighting the planned obsolescence, eastern imports or both?

If you designed a product and sold it, you should be responsible to provide all the support your customers need.
It simply should not matter how old the device is or from where the competitors are...

Unfortunately in 2024, bad customer support is so common that the few good ones are seen as "strange" or "suspicious"  :horse:

I know AIM TTi is reading this, so please continue with your awesome good customer support.
I will continue to buy stuff from you, support you and make sure others understand why.
