My Towers Transistor book says it is:

NPN, TO105 package, 60V, 800mA, 400mW, hfe 100.

It also says that is was manufactured by MicroElectronics Ltd. Here is one of their data books.
http://bitsavers.org/components/microElectronicsLtd/

It does not list the ME8003, but page 369 gives their package outlines.

Think i will try a bfy50, they match better than bc109.

If 50V are fine maybe a BC337, otherwise a BC637.

You're looking for for a jelly bean NPN with a slightly higher current capability (0.8A). BDY39 is power NPN in a TO3 package and could be used as a pass transistor (needs high base current). BFY50 is an RF NPN. Could you please post the circuit diagram? Maybe we're able to narrow down the required specs.

A BD139 might work.
