Vizio M658-G1 keeps rebooting
« on: February 17, 2024, 01:58:05 am »
I've got a Vizio 65" M658-G1 that keeps rebooting. It takes forever to get to the logo, about 55 seconds, then the logo goes away, the backlight stays on for awhile, then reboots. From my  research apparently is the firmware that gets corrupted and I need to replace the NAND or the EMMC, whatever this one has.
Do you know where I can find the programming file for this?

Cheers,
Miti

In the end I bought a main board from Ebay, picked up 10 Km from where I live. The TV is back in business.
Now I want to see if I can fix the bad MB.

I still want to repair this board. Do you think that the EMMC is defective or it may be just corrupted? What’s the most common failure mode of an EMMC? I’m thinking maybe it crashed during a SW update.
If I put the SW on a USB stick and power on, do you think it may detect the corruption and load from the stick or it needs to be in some kind of bootloader mode?
The procedure for loading from the USB stick requires it to start and select an input that doesn’t have signal. Obviously I can’t get to that point.

Cheers,
Miti
