Vizio VX37L HDTV-V10A
« on: June 11, 2019, 01:45:46 pm »
Hi.
I got this beast for free so it is worth a try at repairing it.
I plugged it in and it powers up ok, I think. At least I can get the screen to light up.
However,
All the stuff I am trying below is through the remote controller, as the buttons on the side seem dead.
The TV acts as if the menu button on the remote were glued down as it continually cycles through all the main selections.
( I didn't think to take the remote apart and see whats up with that button, if anything. I will do so. )
At one point I was able to pause it momentarily so as to select the antenna as input and to auto scan for stations.
That worked for a bit and I can see that I can tune an accurate picture. No sound though as I cannot get the menus to stop cycling so as to be able to select the onboard sound.
I have the cover off and have just begun to poke around in it.
I am assuming the power supply is good as the screen lights up ok and the picture is good.

Many thanks and all suggestions are welcome.

Is it probable or likely that the IR controller board is bad ?
