Wanted: Schematics for Loewe MB180 chassis
« on: June 05, 2020, 08:06:25 pm »
Hi guys,

i am trying to fix an older Loewe TV (Xelos 32), but i can't find any schematics for that particular model (there are a lot of manuals for the 2650 chassis and/or the Xelos 32A, but not for the MB180 chassis). Does anyone of you happen to have those schematics? I tried contacting Loewe, but apparently they decided to no longer give away service manuals (they had a FTP server with almost all service manuals until a few years ago).

The problem: TV doesn't power up and just sits there in standby. Seems to be Loewes way of displaying faults, they just pull up the cathode voltage of the photodiode in the optocoupler -> disables the main transformer, also used for normal standby. Neat trick.

If memory serves well, that chassis blinks the orange LED to give some indication of the fault. Not sure if this model did that.

No, this model doesn't blink at all, it just sits there with the orange/red LED lit up. Could be the power board, but none of the usual suspects were defect so the fault is probably somewhere on the main board (don't know if i could fix that, lots of 0204 and unlabeled chips).
