Wavetek 172b - help needed
« on: February 05, 2023, 04:20:43 pm »
Hi all.
Bought a Wavetek 172b, option GPIB, at low price but high weight...
Seemed to work but, altough executing all the command sent via keyboard:
- I can have in output only sine waves, at the requested frequency and amplitude, but no way to see a square nor a triangle form, 50ohm or not
- the GPIB port is not seen by Keysight sw, seems to be deaf and mute, also if the specific commands via keyboard seems to have effect
- 5-8" after executing whatever command the display shows "172b cleared", as if it's resetted, (e.g. the sine output is stopped).

So must open the box...but I was unable to find all around the real Service manual: I've found only the User manual.
Can someone help for the Service manual? Has anyone an idea of the possible origin of the faults of the instrument?

Tnx in advance for your attention and your support.

too big to attach here so: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YNV5U9E-tVFB-fVTesY8xp1vARxt26P_/view?usp=sharing

It says 'Instruction manual' but it has the schematics and circuit description.
Keyboard error: Press F1 to continue.

Tnx for the link Paul, I got it yet.
Hope to find a true Service manual with detailed schematics, if released.

Tnx once again Paul. Sure I've failed to see at that page...
