Hi!

A pcb with conformal coating, from a Husqvarna robot lawn mover, is now on my workbench. I have cleaned - well ... tried the best I could - coated boards before, but with poor to medium results. Wonder how you guys solve this and what would be the easiest way to go?

It depends on which type of coating but if it's acrylic or epoxy, Acetone usually does a decent job.

Method of removal is anything from a soaked toothbrush to just dunking the whole thing in a large container filled with acetone :)

Thanks chriva! :D

How would you describe the difference between acrylic and epoxy coated boards in softness? Guess that those with epoxy coating has harder surface compared to acrylic. My board is, I believe, coated with the latter because it can be peeled off quiet easily, but of course it leave residues and more cleaning is needed.

Beware, acetone kills plastics fast. Test before going full speed
On a related note: google for "plunger can".  These are great.
