what is this ic
« on: August 26, 2021, 06:30:53 pm »
hi, i have a 220v motor driver and i think it is a dimmer from its bt138 triac (it goes to a 220-24 trans and then to the motor) and its ic surface is erased and expunged and i don't know its number, does anyone know what this could be?

That looks like it may be a Chip on board (COB) : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_on_board  Identification marks were not erased.  They were never there.

Your guess is as good as ours.

Edit:  Oops  :-[

Are you mistaking the knob on the pot for an IC blob?

Pretty sure the question is about the DIP 16 package with the markings sanded off.

Agreed. I don't know what it is. The only think I could suggest is that the OP draws out the circuit as everything else is identifiable. Given that you have a decent idea of what it does, someone could certainly speculate what IC would make sense there. Not terribly helpful, I know.

If it was a dimmer - wow!
Not a single piece of filtering or protection around the TRIAC.
