What type of AC-connector is this (vintage cassette recorder)
« on: August 21, 2024, 07:40:57 pm »
Looking for a connector or cable for this old (german?) tape recorder ITT SL 55

For an untrained eye, it may look like the IEC C7/C8 that has round pins, but its not...
This is flat spade-pins.

The tape recorder:

Thanks

I'll improvise from 2 individual female disconnect terminals crimped to the AC cable.  Fit them one by one into the tape recorder's male receptacles (you might need to bend/shape the female plugs to fit just right), then pour bathroom-silicon on top and let it solidify, to form a socket.

Thanks. I would improvise myself, but this is for helping out some others with a cable.
I know the risk of shorting or touching those pins when LIVE with AC 200V+, but should be a warning with this :)

Still want to know if this connector/cable has a name.

Checked with the schematics on Elektrotanya - 2SB and 2SC in there, so this originates from Japan. I assume Crown or National Panasonic made.
However, I know for a fact (as I tried to trace down some calculator power cables from that time earlier) that there often were customer specific styles of plugs used.

So I assume this is a custom one.
