What type of rs232 wiring is this?
« on: June 19, 2022, 10:19:53 am »
Hi!
I have to change a broken 9pin rs232 connector where the pin no 1,3 and 4 are broken, pulled out and the whole connector is crashed.

I never saw such of type of connection where pin no 1, 3 and 4 are used.

The device is a kind of "calibrator zurf" from a tractor.

What type of wiring is this?
I know the common type like gnd, rx and tx 3 wire connection.

It's probably not RS232 at all but some other signals using a DB9 connector.
They aren't exclusively a connector for RS232.
Greek letter 'Psi' (not Pounds per Square Inch)

There is no such thing as "rs232 connector".

It can be anything, only the user manual will tell what it is. If you can say which tractor (make/model) then maybe someone will chime in.

It could be RS-232 with a different pinout or something entirely different. For example Sartorius precision balances were notorious for using a different RS-232 pinout to sell cables at exorbitant price.

The device is not tractor specific, it is also not an oem device.
But yes, probably the main misunderstanding by me was/is that I saw the rs232 connector but probably the manufacturer use the gnd, rx,tx wires also but on a different pinout of the connector...
