Title: What's the best way to re-seat this part?
Post by: Section8 on November 29, 2016, 11:11:53 pm
So i bought some cheap display modules from China. While I can't argue with the price, the assembly is a little bit sloppy.
As you can see from the attached photos the displays are pretty poorly seated against the board.

What's the best way to re-seat these parts? I've already tried solder wick on one side but it didn't manage to get all the solder out.

Should i use a heat gun to try heating all pins at once? what's the risk of damaging the driver chip on the other side of the board?

Re-flow oven? seems like it would probably melt the displays.

Any other options?

thanks for your time.

Err, it looks to me like the displays are plugged into machine pin sockets, so you should be able to pull the displays off, or get enough wiggle room that you can adjust alignment without soldering anything.
