Identify this connector
« on: February 21, 2017, 11:48:25 am »
Hey gang,

I need help identifying this connector. The physical connector is approx. 1 cm wide and has a knurled cap for securing the plug on a panel. I'm looking for the female part. I've been googling like crazy, microphone connectors are a close fit but the pin arrangement on the ones I found won't match -- their pins are arranged in a circular manner whereas this thingie has a 2-4-3 arrangement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So, something that resembles a circular connector, but with 7 pins, one in the center and 6 all round?
Googling for 'circular connector 7 pins' finds a page on Mouser
http://eu.mouser.com/Connectors/Circular-Connectors/Circular-DIN-Connectors/_/N-76q5g?P=1yzxfwn
and e.g. one of the results is this one:

Where did the OP specify 7 pins? OP, you need to be clear about what you are looking for. How many pins? Is the diagram you showed correct? Are there any markings on the connector (inside, outside, or around it)?
Ideally, post a picture.

Yes sorry about that helius, the cable was at home and I was at work |O It's use is quite specific, it's used on a telescope mount to connect the controller board to a motor.

I rechecked, and it turns out that the pinout in the diagram (copy/pasted from the owner's manual, go figure) is not correct. It's this connector: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1EvHjOVXXXXazaXXXq6xXFXXXH/GX16-9-Pin-Male-Female-Diameter-16mm-Wire-Panel-Connector-GX16-9-Circular-Connector-Aviation-Socket.jpg_220x220.jpg

On AliExpress a lot of vendors call it "GX16-9", "aviation plug", or XLR (the XLRs I know look different; ah well.)

Anyhow, sorry for the confusion.

OK, it looks like one of this series:

They have had a lot of names, but there isn't a really satisfactory one that everyone uses. I think Aliexpress is your best shot at sourcing them.
