why does resetting a audio amp make it stop buzzing?
« on: September 18, 2023, 01:04:15 pm »
I have a HP supply amp set to a speaker for a year now. Sometimes (maybe once a month? sometimes much less) it gets this static hiss noise.

All I need to do is turn it off and on again and it is quiet.

Is it something with the power switch? makes a bit of a pop when you turn it on (normal)

its fully analog device.

my theory is that the switches are dodgy and the inrush current to the speaker cleans them out. treated with deoxit

Static is frequently linked to grounding and picking up noise from the environment (LED power supplies are horrible) or bad wiring or... a million other things.

A lot of things happen when off/on an amp or power supply, including emptying a lot of capacitors. There might be a component that touches the chassis (leaking) and builds up charge over time, speed depending on relative humidity. The minuscule temperature changes during the power cycle.

When it fits stop using the hammer
