Wire for AA batteries

Im going to relocate the batteries in the xbox controller to where the rumble motors used to be. So I need some wire to connect the batteries to the circuit board. How thick wire should I use?

Just about any wire will work fine for that, if you need a number use 24 AWG.
That is good for 3.5A in this application, and you're never going to be pulling that out of AA's
Use stranded core (not solid core).
