X1 and X2 Capacitors
« on: January 05, 2024, 08:11:59 pm »
I've got a device that uses a dropper cap for it's power. The original has gone t1ts up, 474k X1 330V. Can this be replaced with an X2 474k 330v ? The X1 seems either a stupid price or places like RS, CPC & Farnell want minimum orders of 5 or 10 plus delivery. What difference/problems would I get substitution a X2 cap for an X1 ?

X1 cap is a bit more reliable. It is designed to work with pulse applications. X2 caps are rated for general purpose application mostly.
