Greetings to all humans!
So I'm finally getting around to trying to repair an old Yammy RX-V1000 5.1 receiver I bought from a thrift shop a few years ago, non-working.
Symptoms:
- Press power button. Primary relay is audible. But, right away, it turns back off without any display or lights on panel.
- Regarding above, it appears in some locations I've tried to power the unit, it was successful in powering up fully in a commercial building (storage facility) where I stored this for a while. I guess it had better voltage condition that the receiver liked. But even that, the display still seemed a little dull. The speaker relays also clicked as well.
- Back in a residential home. It is doing the first symptom again. For Diag mode, however, if I hold down the "A/B/C/D/E" and right "Tuning/Preset" buttons while powering the unit, I can hear the primary and speaker relays click as if it were operating normally, but still no display (I didn't have a chance to try this in the storage unit to see if the display would light up). If I hit the power button again, the relays all click off like normal.
For the moment, I'm trying to see if I can hook up a monitor or TV to it to see if it is outputting anything during diagnostics so I could access the menus.
I hope I was able to give a good description of its behavior. I have a soldering iron as I do car audio installs, but board repairs I'm still a newbie at, but I am comfortable with attacking this issue.
edit: In complete darkness, in diagnostics mode, I can see the red lines running through the display, but none of the characters are lit up
