Yamaha RX-V1075 / RX-A1030 help
« on: August 14, 2016, 04:17:14 am »
Hi all,

I'm trying to repair yet another Yamaha receiver I scored cheap.

This one has audio fine but no video.

Built in diags pass ok until I get to the digital video parts. Analog through works fine.

I'm suspecting the HDMI transmitters at this point as all communication tests pass as do ram and rom tests.

None of the HDMI loop tests pass. Nor does the GUI test work.

Anyone have any experience with these receivers?

Thanks,
Raff

Update:

I found on Element 14's web site a bulletin from Texas Instruments regarding premature aging problems in a series of their chips.

You guessed it, the DSP chip in both the RX-V2071 and the RX-V1075 Yamaha receivers I'm trying to fix have the affected chips.

I have bought the replacement module for the RX-V20171 and that fixed it, but I have this time contacted Yamaha Australia to see what they say about the second receivers problem.

Seems to me they should be repaired for free, or at least a good discount as its a known problem with that series of chips.
