I have a ZD985 Desoldering Station that randomly turns itself on momentarily. :scared:
- Power cable plugged into AC.
- Front rocker switch set to OFF position.
How can I fix this? Is my house going to explode?
-
Wow, this reminds me that i wanted to open a thread about that as well.
I'm not at home right now, so i'm not sure if my desoldering station is the same model, but it seems i have the same phenomenon happening.
Plugged in, switched off, every few minutes i see a very short flash from the display, and i hear a sound coming from the station.
I'm in germany,so i do not have polarized plugs, could that be an issue? I have not yet tried to reverse the plug.
It works fine when i use it.

haha yeah I kept putting it off as well!
Here is an image of mine:

Ok, mine is different.
The handle looks the same, but different color. I'm sure i saw a video with the same one as mine on either EEVBlog or BigClive.
I think it's ZD-915, but i'm not fully sure.

Hi, sorry for trying to resurrect this very old thread, but I have exactly the same issue, did you ever find a solution?
;D

I have solder peak sp1010r desolder station and is doing the same thing every few seconds or minute.Possible solutions is to reverse the power plug or power the unit from other wall outlet or instal 4 pole power switch on the unit or external power adaptor with 4 pole on of switch.

I reversed the plug of my desoldering station, that eliminated the flashing display issue.
I only use it very rarely and i have not encountered any other problems.
