Title: ADC, Voltage Ref. - examples
Post by: PerranOak on September 04, 2020, 11:46:11 am
I am fooling around with mid-range PICs and wanted to try using an external voltage ref and an external ADC just to experiment.

I was thinking of a 5V Vref just because that's what the PICs are powered at but I guess this needs 6V power for the Vref? ADCs I know nothing about save the ones within PICs.

Any suggestions for simple-to-use examples would be gratefully received.

Cheers.

In many cases like that it is convenient to have a 4.096V reference. That gives you 1mV/LSB for a 12-Bit ADC. It can be powered out of 5V as well...
