alodine (phosphate conversion coating) titanium?
« on: April 26, 2020, 07:31:50 pm »
Does anyone know if the 1201 Alodine will work on titanium?

They sell a different kind, that is not really available or cheap, that can work with titanium (1200S) that I don't have (because its going to be 99% aluminum work). The 1201 is the budget 'friendly' version AFAIK, which is good for the shop.

I don't need the best coating, the idea is that I would just put it on the end of a titanium strip so it acts as a better electrical contact. The one I have is 5% chromic acid and some ferrocyanide compound (like machinists blue).

I might cut off a small piece later to try it (when my cleaner comes in), but I am curious about the chemistry. It needs a flouride to work on titanium?
