Alternative to Fluke MC6 Wipes?
« on: March 06, 2024, 05:18:08 pm »
Hi All.

I bought the Fluke MC6 wipes long time ago and they were superb on cleaning a Fluke 289 which was really dark from use. It brought it back to really good shape.

I think this product is discontinued. Do you know of another approach, product or solvent that is as good as the MC6 on removing grease and other dirt from the rubber covers?
The MC6 wipes had a characteristic odor to it, but I never figured out what it was.

Thanks,
Walter

In place of the MC6, Fluke officially recommends a third-party pre-moistened lab wipe containing 70% IPA and 30% deionized water. Have you tried isopropyl alcohol?

Thanks for the reply.

I tend to use IPA like I use WD40, sometimes even brush my teeth with it (obviously kidding).
For some dirt, especially the on old multimeters IPA just isn't enough...

MSDS: https://www.netes.com.tr/netes/dosyalar/dosya/MC50-MC6_DataSheet.pdf
Isoparaffinic hydrocarbon, 1-Propoxy-2-propanol, d-Limonene.

This one is not exact but might be decent: https://www.qosmedix.com/qosmedix-professional-makeup-brush-cleaner-4
