Bosch Go 3 cordless screwdriver clutch question
(1/1)
electroguy:
Hi, Does anyone have a Bosch Go 3 cordless screwdriver? When the clutch is set to the lightest setting, can you manually screw/unscrew with it? I want to be able to drive small screws on the lightest setting (so the threads on small screws don't get ripped) but then hand tighten at the end. And same for removing tight screws, I want to have high "manual breakaway" torque, then press the button to remove the screw. It's for small stuff, like laptops/TV's/electronics/etc... For big screws I have big drivers, not interested in high torque drivers, so for this task the lower the clutch torque the better.
I have the Worx WX242 but unfortunately it's useless for this task because the clutch still activates on whatever setting it's on even when the motor isn't running, so you can't hand tighten or loose/breakaway tight screws. I'm forever flicking the clutch up and down and so now I've just stopped using it.
The Bosch Go 3 manual says it can be used manually as a screwdriver if the switch is in the centre position, but what if the switch is in the clockwise/anticlockwise position? Because even though it's slightly better than constantly adjusting the clutch up and down, I still don't want to be flicking switches just to breakaway or hand tighten screws. So when you press it into the screw, the pressure sensor will activate the motor, but then turn off once the clutch activates, if you keep it depressed and turn manually, does the clutch still activate again? Or does it have high manual torque?
I know the more expensive drivers can do it, just checking what cheaper options there are before spending big bucks. I was also hoping for something with USB C charging instead of the charging docks like the Panasonic EY7410LA2S etc... but I'll compromise on that.

I tested my Bosch Go (the green one, not the blue Bosch Go 3) with a torque screwdriver up to 3N/m, no clutch so far in screw/unscrew mode. I've never seen a screw in a electronic device which is fastend with 3N/m. I use the Bosch Go for about 5 years now. It's a tool for realy big parts. Even the lightest level 1 is too strong for laptop screws. I don't recommend the Bosch Go for small screws. I would use a Miniware ES 15 instead and if needed, a torque screw driver. I have Wiha 0.8-3.0 N/m (electronic) and a 0.1-0.6 N/m (manually) torque screwdriver.

Thanks very much. I think you are right, too much torque anyway, and also the push to start of the Bosch GO 3 is going to be a major pain.
I'll look into the ES15 and that style for my low torque jobs.
